The Low Down On Alcoholic Beverages

As you progress along with your diet program, one thing that you may start to wonder about from time to time is alcohol.  Must you really cut all alcohol out of your program if you hope to see the success you’re after?

Or, is this something that you can indulge in from time to time and still see the progress that you’re looking for?

The key thing to remember about alcohol is that the body will view it as a toxin, so as soon as it enters your system all fat burning is going to come to a stop.

It won’t resume until that toxin has made its way through the body, so it will slow down the rate of progress you see.

The trick to drinking in a manner so that it’s not a considerable hindrance to your results is to choose your alcoholic drinks wisely.  Remember that the calories do still add up, so must be accounted for.

Let’s have a look at the primary choices you’ll likely be considering.

The Low Down On Alcoholic Beverages on FitnessGuruSam.com, Chino Hills Boot Camp, Chino Hills Personal Trainer, Chino Hills Weight LossThe very first alcohol beverage is liquors mixed with soda, juice, or water.  If you choose these and mix them with diet soda or water, you’re going to be getting your lightest alcoholic beverage choice.  Each shot will contain only around 70 calories total, so this won’t put too large of a dent in your diet plan.

If you choose to mix it with soda, juice, or cream, then you will be adding far more calories, so that can cause more issues as far as your bodyweight is concerned.

It will still only come in at around 150-200 calories depending on the size of the glass or bottle however, so it’s still not incredibly high and detrimental to your progress.

The drawback with beer is that most people will have it with chicken wings, pizza, nachos, or some other high fat, high calorie food, so then those calories get added to the mix as well.

Do your best to avoid these if you can.

So there you have the main alcoholic beverage considerations to think about.  If you just have one or two and make a wise decision, they definitely don’t have to mean diet plan destruction.

The Benefits Of Including Dairy Products In Your Day

If you’re like many people who are looking for fast fat loss results, one of the first things to get the boot from your diet plan is dairy products.

So many people start cutting dairy out of their diet completely, thinking that it’s only going to set them up for fat gain.

But, is this really the case?  Are dairy products to blame for weight gain or is it the type of dairy products that you choose that create the problems?

Unless you learn some of the need-to-know facts about dairy, chances are you’re going to eliminate it from your diet for no reason at all.

Let’s have a look at what some of the benefits are that dairy is going to offer so you can see why this is a terrific food to be adding to your diet plan.

The Benefits Of Including Dairy Products In Your Day on FitnessGuruSam.com, Chino Hills Boot Camp, Chino Hills Personal Trainer, Chino Hills Weight LossThe first reason why adding dairy to your diet plan is a must is because it’s going to offer you a good source of protein. Most dairy products, if you select the right ones, will contain at least 8 grams of protein per serving, which will really help to you meet your daily requirements.

If there’s one nutrient you can’t afford to fall short on with your diet plan, protein would be it.  Dairy can help get you there.

Those who don’t get enough dairy in their diet often fall short in calcium and when dieting, this will put you at an even greater risk of stress fractures.

If getting a lean stomach is one of your goals, that makes dairy products a must.

Finally, the last thing that you need to note about dairy products is how to go about choosing them correctly.  For best results, you’ll want to seek out low fat varieties that offer the most protein total.

The top choices include Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, skim milk, as well as low-fat, low sugar yogurts.

Be especially careful when choosing your yogurt varieties as many do contain added sugars that you’ll want to avoid.

So before you consider giving dairy products the boot from your diet, make sure you consider these factors.

You really don’t need to say so-long to this food as long as you’re making sure you choose carefully and monitor the calories it adds to your daily diet plan.

Which Is The Greater Evil: Carbs Or Fat?

If you’ve been reading up on your nutrition information and various approaches to fat loss diets, one thing that you might have realized is that generally speaking, the diet world falls into two different ‘camps’ of people.

You have the ‘low fat’ crowd.  These are the people that believe that eating too much dietary fat will only harm your health and you’re better off to avoid it.

Then you have the ‘low carb’ crowd who believe the exact opposite.  If you want to see successful fat loss results, low carb should be the name of your game.

So who’s right?  Which ‘camp’ of followers has a better chance of reaching weight loss success?

Let’s look at a few points to consider.

Which Is The Greater Evil: Carbs Or Fat? on FitnessGuruSam.com, Chino Hills Boot Camp, Chino Hills Personal Trainer, Chino Hills Weight LossOne of the primary reasons why low fat believers state that this is the superior method to lose body fat is because fat rich foods are so calorie dense.

Since losing body fat really does come down taking in fewer calories than you burn off, by cutting out the high calorie foods from your diet, progress should move along more quickly.

But is this really the case?  This would seem to make sense, but what you should also note is that there are many high calorie, fat free foods out there.

Take bagels for instance. The average bagel will easily provide you with 300 calories or more and likely won’t leave you feeling all that satisfied either.

Or, take candy.  Again, it’s completely fat free but is it healthy and will it help satisfy your hunger? Certainly not.

So take note that the low calorie element of a low fat diet isn’t quite what it seems.

Which Is The Greater Evil: Carbs Or Fat? on FitnessGuruSam.com, Chino Hills Boot Camp, Chino Hills Personal Trainer, Chino Hills Weight LossThe second camp of people are the low carbers.  These people believe that a higher carb diet will only cause intense hunger levels to develop that will make it almost impossible for you to maintain dietary control.

They claim that a low carb, high fat diet keeps hunger and energy levels even all day long so you can easily see the success that you’re after.

Again, there is a great deal of truth to this.  It’s true that high carb foods do spike blood glucose levels and will increase the hunger level you experience on a day to day basis.

High fat foods that contain moderate amounts of protein do not.

But, on the flip side, feast on too much high fat food and your calorie intake will not be where it needs to be for fat loss to occur.

Ideally, you want the best of both worlds.  Most people never stop to consider the fact that there can be a middle ground.

You don’t have to be going strictly high fat or strictly low fat.  You can go midway between each and do a moderate fat, moderate carb diet.

Choose primarily vegetable and fruit based carbs which will fill you up without spiking your blood sugar levels and then add in fat in small amounts to keep hunger in check without increasing your calorie intake too high.

Do this and that’s when you’ll really have found the perfect diet combination that yields optimal results.
